Avery became aware of the gospel and her deep need for Jesus at a young age, but it wasn’t really until college that she fell completely in love with God and everything about him – his presence, his righteousness, his Lordship, his tenderness, his power, his tears. Her life had been bought with a price and Jesus was and is worthy of all of her. After her time at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she moved to Denver with hopes of pursuing a career as a Physician’s Assistant, getting clinical hours in the Cardiac ICU at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Very quickly into her time in Denver, she became connected with the Heights, found community, and began to serve in the church. In the last year and a half, God has taught her about his burden for the city of Denver and its immense need. He is now inviting her into full-time ministry with hopes of greater experience of the fullness of Christ for her and this city. With excitement, she is answering his call to simply “Jump!”
Avery is currently raising support to begin a two-year apprenticeship, where she will serve alongside the Heights staff, joining God in personal and citywide renewal, expectant that He is doing immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine.
