Our Core Values
The good news of Jesus transforms us into a community that cares about:
We fight for personal and city-wide change through the gospel. We believe that no one has "arrived."
We out-love, out-serve, and out-encourage the people closest to us. We believe that we were created for this kind of community.
We live on mission in every sphere that God has given to us. We believe that God calls us to love where our feet are.
We sacrifice our time, treasures, and talents for God’s Kingdom. We believe that everyone has something to contribute.
SOME FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What should I expect when I show up on Sunday morning?
You will be greeted and directed into Palmer Elementary School by one of our volunteers. We encourage you to stop by our Information Tent for any direction that you might need. From there, one of our volunteers will be there to help you get settled in.
If you are checking in children between birth and 3rd grade, we will take your family’s information and issue security stickers for each of your children. After you drop your kids off, you can stop in the lobby for some coffee or you can head straight into the auditorium for service.
If you don’t have kids between birth and 3rd grade, you get to head straight for the coffee and into the auditorium. Service begins promptly at 10AM and lasts about 75 minutes.
2. What if I’m not sure about Christianity?
Perfect! That’s why we started The Heights Church. You can explore Christianity at your own pace.
3. What should I wear?
We want you to wear whatever you feel comfortable in! Most people wear jeans and a t-shirt!
4. Where should I park?
We invite you to park in the back parking lot located behind the school or to utilize the street parking in the front. There will be signage to direct you to our entrance at the corner of Grape and 10th.
5. What do you provide for kids?
The Heights Kids ministry is designed to provide fun and safe kids activities for kids birth-3rd grade. After completing our safe and secure check-in your kids will play, be taught a Bible story, and typically do a craft!
6. What does a typical service look like?
We gather together to remember who God is through singing and teaching the Bible. That’s it! We hope that you will come and join us.
7. What denomination are you?
Our church community is made up of a melting pot of various church backgrounds and denominations. We are joined by one common denominator—Jesus is the reason we have life and is worthy of our allegiance and devotion. However, we voluntarily join with like-minded churches through our partnership and involvement with the Send Network, The Summit Network, and The Mile High Family of Churches.
8. What are the nuts-and-bolts of what you believe?
We align ourselves with the historic, orthodox Christian Church. The best way to summarize our basic set of beliefs is the Apostles Creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
