Become a Disciple of Jesus.

How you can follow Jesus here at The Heights.

We believe that Jesus changes everything. The life, joy, and satisfaction that we all long for can be found through discipleship to Jesus. We don’t believe that Christianity is something you just “convert” to, but rather it’s a person that you apprentice yourself under — Jesus of Nazareth.

The process of discipleship is orienting the whole of your life around the person of Jesus. This happens through something called the Gospel, or “good news,” of what Jesus has done through his life, death, and resurrection.

We believe the gospel offers renewal and restoration for us as individuals, for our city, and for the world as a whole.

We are a church that is pursuing discipleship to Jesus together; with the radical hope of seeing Denver transformed as more and more people follow Jesus. Scroll down to see all of the ways that we do this together!

How can I be sure about this?

Do you have questions and doubts about the way of Jesus? We are hosting Alpha, an open and informal conversation about life, spirituality, and the person of Jesus without judgment or pressure. We would love to hear your thoughts and questions as we explore these themes together without the pressured atmosphere that usually comes with these conversations.

Discipleship at The Heights

We are disciples, not just converts. We commit ourselves to orienting our entire lives around Jesus. This is the way to joy — the satisfaction of our deepest longings.

Below are the major ways that you can grow as a disciple here at The Heights.

  • We believe that the collection of writings that we call the Bible is the word of God. That all of the history, poetry, prophecy, and letters are the breath of the living God speaking to us. So we go to the Word of God for a word from God. Some of the primary ways we do this is through building a habit of daily Bible reading, listening to Bible teaching during our Sunday gathering, and participating in in-depth studies of the Bible with others.

  • The Christian life was not meant to be lived in isolation — in fact, it’s impossible to do life with Jesus alone!

The Biblical vision for community is one where we mutually care for one another and push one another towards discipleship to Jesus.

  • Prayer is our first response, not our last resort.

In many ways, prayer is the “engine” of the Christian life. We believe that there are things that God will not do until we pray for them to happen. We are committed to cultivating a rich and ongoing culture of prayer here at The Heights.

  • We were designed to know God — and what we believe about God makes all the difference. Believe the truth about God, and a vibrant, flourishing life with Jesus will follow. But the same is true the other way around. When we believe the wrong things about God we experience an unraveling of our life. We say it this way: wrong beliefs lead to wrong living which leads to ruined lives; but right beliefs lead to right living which leads to renewed lives.

This is why we place a high value on knowing God. The act of knowing God is what people call theology. Theology isn’t an important collection of facts — but rather it’s our pursuit of knowing God our creator. That’s why we offer a 2 semester introductory course we call The Heights Institute. • The Christian life is not inward facing. We see all throughout the gospels that Jesus’ eyes were fixed on those in poverty, the sick, and the spiritually bankrupt. Discipleship to Jesus requires a commitment to these people — to the meeting of needs as well as the proclamation of the good news of Jesus.

Living Life Together

The Christian life was not meant to be lived in isolation — in fact, it’s impossible to do life with Jesus alone!

The Biblical vision for community is one where we mutually care for one another and push one another towards discipleship to Jesus.

Dependent Prayer

Prayer is our first response, not our last resort.

In many ways, prayer is the “engine” of the Chrsitian life. We believe that there are things that God will not do until we pray for them to happen. We are committed to cultivating a rich and ongoing culture of prayer here at The Heights.
